Georgia Why
In October of '06 I went to Georgia to get away from Alaska, relax my mind and give birth to my new business, 49 Designs. My father bought me a macbook pro and I swear I've never had a better relationship with him.
During my time in Georgia (my first trip there ever) I was able to kick back and reflect but also take a strong step forward onto formerly wobbly legs. In my heart, I knew things were looking up though they were bleakly tainted to most human eyes.
How did I even come to plan or afford a trip to Georgia in the midst of such turmoil? Being a creative individual, one must keep moving in order to experience the world in a way that relates to others. I was surfing myspace in May, doing my normal daily routine of online studying. Sure it looked like I was just playing around, but I was learning the ins and outs of dynamic pages and css.
In a bulletin posted by one of my many "friends," there was an offering for 3 Mayer tickets at a good price. I saw the bulletin and allowed myself to dream for just a second that maybe I could get to the concert in Georgia. It was scheduled for October, (dividend time $$ CHING!) and I knew that I could splurge on the tickets, stay with my college homie, Curt, and afford a plane ticket by the fall. Every dollar I had was going to paying back student loans and my daily bills, and there weren't a whole lot coming in.
So I responded to the bulletin the next day, fearing someone had already bought the tickets. Nobody had and I made friends with a lady named "Why Georgia" on myspace.com, the beginning of what would become an amazingly divine interception of two life stories.
Two quick emails to my Georgia friends and I had takers for all three tickets.
By the time October rolled around I was desperate to get away. Things at my business were choking off my air supply. Undervalued, trapped, misunderstood, I couldn't make ends meet and I told Lord I wanted to do His service and would do anything to get away. The day after that prayer He brought someone to me who had a stack of video testimony she wanted put together for a production called "The Dirty Bride." Risque! I feel like I'm Kanye talking on "The College Drop Out" about coming up on the scene:
I flew to Georgia after ordering my computer. IF I would have shipped it to ATL they were going to charge me tax for it! So it had to be sent to Alaska, where my employee, IceBurg hooked it up w/ my programs and then fed exed it down to me on vacation. On Wednesday, October 22, I held Grace for the first time. I took this picture of myself to mark the day and tell my dad thank you: <insert happy photo>. Since then Ih ave taken almost 3000 pictures with my photobooth camera. I don't know.
The concert was pretty fun, I climbed a tree while DRH was playing and some ladies on the lawn looked at me like I was crazy. I felt especially cool in the tree because I was wearing my pin stripe white pants from banana republic and they are straight sexy. Them ladies laying on the lawn in the dark will never know, and that is between me myself and I.
I took some pictures at the show and enjoyed dancing to Mayer live while also harmonizing, "Huuuuu" in the ampitheater. This feller got mad at me when I stood in my seat and danced so he asked me to sit down. I simply could not sit down so I had to go in the aisles and dance. My friends were up higher than me, they had sold me the better tickets, and I had a nice tearful moment with them during the heart of life, or stop this train, or one of those. One of the "I know what you mean" songs.
Here are the ladies that had my back in case that dude got out of line with me. For what it's worth: I don't think dudes like him need to be dampening my spirits but he couldn't and he didn't and I do hope he got what he needed from the concert that night. I did.
Next day I went to Athens for some boogiing and some vintage shopping and I took these photos:
Chruch was probably the highlight of the trip because these ladies waved their banners and I felt very at peace and blessed to be in the company of other soulful believers at a predominantly colorfully skinned church and oh yeah, my homegirls famiy came to town all the way from Ohi and I had not caught up with them since high school!
